Appeal Allowed for 9 Dwellings at Jack Straws Lane, off Marston Road, Oxford
We have just received an appeal decision for the redevelopment of an existing outworn industrial development for 9 dwellings at Jack Straws Lane, off Marston Road in Oxford. Oxford City Council had refused planning permission for two main reasons. Firstly that the Council felt that the 9-home scheme was an underdevelopment of the site, but the Inspector agreed with us that the development proposal was well thought out, offering family sized homes and gardens and space for planting, and sense of place. The Inspector also agreed that allowing some parking on site for residents would be acceptable as it would not unduly encourage car use as had been alleged in the second refusal reason, and people could easily use nearby public transport or walking or cycling. Given these considerations the appeal was allowed, subject to a suite of conditions.
