August 2023 Youth and Community Facility Project in South Oxfordshire
JPPC has been part of a multi-disciplinary team that has secured planning permission for a new community facility at the Southern Road Recreation Ground in Thame – the new facility provides enhancements to an existing Scout Hut, as well as replacing outdated sports changing facilities with new changing, WC and shower facilities that are fit for purpose. The development also seeks to provide a purpose-built multi-function event space, designed to accommodate up to 200 people as well as delivering dedicated space for local youth groups.
The new buildings have been designed to high standards of energy efficiency, following input from the planning authority at the pre-application design stage. The proposed development was also the subject of a comprehensive scheme for landscaping and the re-provision of children’s play facilities, as well as appropriate levels of car parking. The new buildings are of a design which reflects local vernacular building traditions in this part of South Oxfordshire.
JPPC has been part of the planning process, having sought pre-application advice from South Oxfordshire District Council. JPPC was also responsible for preparing the planning submission (including the preparation of a supporting statement) and managing the planning application through its determination by the local planning authority.
